Alia Al Serkal Vice President – Talent Development at Du


Dr. Alia Al Serkal joined the Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company – du in 2007. She is responsible for developing talent in the organisation, managing executive development programs, and identifying and assessing successors for critical roles to bolster future success, and Emiratisation.

Before joining du, Alia was a Senior Psychologist at Emirates Airline, where she was responsible for assessing airline staff during the recruitment and promotion processes, and conducting psychological evaluations in cases of disciplinary actions or performance changes. Prior to her work with Emirates Airline, she had also worked in similar roles at the American University of Sharjah and Rashid Hospital in Dubai.

When Alia joined du in 2007, she served as Director of Talent Acquisition. During this role, she ensured that a fair process was followed and implemented throughout recruitment and introduced psychometric testing and assessment centres for staff members throughout the organisation. She moved into her current role in January of 2018.

Some of Alia’s career achievements include implementing Talent Pools, from executives to managers, to ensure that the right individuals are chosen for specific roles; implementing a mentor programme for Talent Pool members; and creating awareness in the community to attract UAE nationals to the organisation.

Alia holds a PhD in Psychology from the University of Leeds in the UK, a Master of Science from the University of Stirling in Scotland, and a Postgraduate Diploma from the University of Barcelona in Spain.
